Threat definition
Hidden recording apps are stealthy programs that disguise themselves as normal apps (like games, messaging, or utility tools) while secretly recording audio or video and collecting data without the user’s knowledge. These apps often function as spyware or “stalkerware,” running in the background to capture conversations, phone calls, photos, and location info. Attackers or ill-intentioned individuals use them to eavesdrop on private moments, steal personal details (texts, contacts, passwords), or even track a child’s activities in real time – all without the child’s awareness. In short, a hidden recording app turns a device into a bug in the child’s pocket, transmitting their personal life to a remote eavesdropper.
