Safe Posting
What safe posting is, who it affects, and what a child should learn — a free entry from the Digital Guardians Threat Dictionary.
Target age range: Children ages 5–7 and the parents who guide their first independent posts on shared family devices.
Learning objective: By the end of this chapter, parents and children will recognize what counts as a "safe post," practice the three-question check before publishing, and understand which kinds of details should never appear in public content.
Threat definition
Oversharing is the casual disclosure of personal information through photos, captions, geotags, or videos. Even a single innocent post can leak a child's school, daily routine, or home address to strangers who collect and combine these breadcrumbs into a profile.
